Happy President’s Day! What a great excuse for a holiday. I’m really digging this three day weekend/three day respite from the PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF GOING TO CLASS. Actually, truth be told, I don’t mind going to class at all. I really love the courses I’m taking (with the exception of astronomy). It’s still nice to have a day off, though!
As you may or may not know, I’m taking a chamber music course for a half-credit again this semester. My chamber group – a trio with a violinist, a cellist, and a pianist (me) – decided to stay together this semester as well, so we wanted to take things a little bit further and throw a concert of our own, other than the required concert everyone in the course performs for. Plus, we’re in the midst of learning all four movements of this Brahms Piano Trio, and due to time issues there’s no way we could perform all of it at the standard class concert! The only resolution is to hold our own concert, which we have now officially decided to do in addition to the course-wide concert. Last week we booked the university’s performance hall for a Sunday afternoon concert in April. I’m really excited about it and hope we can get a lot of people to come. We’re thinking about “B Cubed” as our trio name since all of our last names start with a “B.” Yes, that suggestion came from the engineer violinist.
