Yet another corner of the Internet where you can find me…

Brace yourself! I have another blog. It’s for my Gender and Popular Media class. I’m already getting confused juggling between this blog (my real one) and that one since I decided to create it under the same WordPress account I already have– maybe not the best idea. But if you’re interested in following my new “academic” blog for my class, here’s the web address: http://jennapaige.wordpress.com. (I made my first post last night!) I’ll be posting there quite regularly for the rest of this semester – we’re required to blog at least once a week – but I’ll obviously still post on this one when I can. We’ll be exploring the effect of popular media forms on society’s construction of gender, particularly how the media represents (or rather, misrepresents) women. Although the professor does give us prompts to base our posts on, there’s a lot of freedom for interpretation and I’m going to try to put my own spin on what she’s asking. Plus, the topic of this class is TOTALLY MY JAM and I’ll probably have so many relevant cultural references to bring up when doing the blogging assignments. I really hate hash-tagging when not in the context of Twitter, but it has to be done: #hooray #progressiveeducation
