Feels like we only go backwards

I’m in a bit of a rut in which I don’t ever want to do school work and therefore end up procrastinating everything, which is bad, not to mention very uncharacteristic of me. But, HI! That means I’m going to blog!

Shameless plug: please check out the 2012 election issue of the Tufts Daily here. I was up until 5:30 in the friggin’ morning working on this with my fellow Dailies on election night. I’m still in awe that we were able to pull this off and am so proud that we’re going to go down in Daily history as the exec board/managing board that made this happen. SO MUCH DAILY LOVE.

Here we are, editing deliriously at 4 a.m., surviving solely on Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and potato chips.

Also, I’d like to put in a plug for the album Lonerism by Tame Impala. I randomly downloaded it a few days ago after seeing a good review for it on Pitchfork, and for a lack of a better expression, it exceeded my expectations tenfold. Tame Impala has never really been on my radar before, but I am so smitten by this album that I’m probably going to download everything they’ve ever made within the next 24 hours.

I think what makes Lonerism so intriguing to me is its evocation of artists like John Lennon and the Zombies. They manage to successfully fuse ’60s British invasion with techno/electronica, psychedelia, and rock ‘n’ roll, even throwing some ’80s in there. Like, WHAT?! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? IS THIS REAL LIFE?

See for yourself: listen here and here.
